The Power Of Confidence
Building Confidence In Our Kids

“A large and growing body of research demonstrates that the way people manage their emotions — that is, their emotional intelligence — matters for personal growth and to the success of the broader society and economy. Emotions drive learning, decision-making, creativity, relationships and health. Mastering the skills of emotional intelligence paves the way for greater well-being, better relationships and overall effectiveness…”
New York Times, 2016

Research tells us that confidence (a core component of Emotional Intelligence/ EQ) highly correlates to almost every decision we make, including: relationships, friendships, risk-taking, goal-setting, communication, peer pressure, motivation, gratitude, emotion-management and overall leadership!  It is one of the most powerful core components of Emotional Intelligence and it is essential for effective leadership, especially for young people as they are navigating 100’s of important life decisions! Thankfully, confidence is 100% learned – but many struggle with this because they do not understand it.  Join us for our next Power Of Confidence event – an all day experience in which you will learn 6 EQ Tools and simple (yet powerful!) techniques for building confidence in yourself and in others! In the morning you will gain an understanding of confidence, gratitude and emotion-management; the afternoon will focus on the practical steps you can take to positively influence your own confidence and the confidence of those around you!

Specifically You Will Learn 6 EQ Tools That Will Help You:
  • Understand how confidence is a core component of effective leadership
  • Understand the impact of confidence on every part of your life (relationships, friendships, goal-setting, risk-taking, motivation, gratitude & emotion-management)
  • Understand emotion-management and why it matters in decision-making and leadership
  • Understand how thoughts (positive or toxic) impact emotions and overall behavior (overall performance / decision-making)
  • How to identify and change ‘toxic thoughts’ that will impact emotions, confidence and overall gratitude
  • How to build your confidence and those around you as an effective leader

Thank you for what you do. My daughter attended your workshop in November and it was a magical and powerful day in my opinion. When I picked her up she was so pumped… she loved it… best workshop ever…amazing… we talked about goals… mini goal setting and making things happen in life. The whole “Please clean your room” thing drove me crazy… I’m so thankful she heard you. She has been keeping her room consistently clean and tidy like never before… she told me that one of her goals was to get along better with me. To be specific she wanted “to have 3 calm conversations a week with my mother” she told me. I was so excited and touched that she wanted to take our relationship to a more peaceful and respectful level… thank you again!Parent, Daughter Age 16
My son attended your conference a few weeks ago and he came out feeling positive and inspired! I noticed an immediate change in his motivation…Parent, Son Age 15

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.

How many people are in a class?

A.

Classes are capped at 20 people in order to keep the mood intimate, and to maximize learning and discussion.

Q.

What are the age-groups for the teen event?

A.

The teen event is for grades 8-12.

Q.

What is the teaching style of the event? My teen is a hands-on learner and would not do well in a lecture format.

A.

All events are highly creative, interactive, fun and experiential! We use a variety of teaching methods including inspirational videos, short teaching modules, games, hands-on activities and group discussion.  We teach the various “tools” and then provide the structure for participants to apply the tools in their own life. The mood is casual and relaxed and the environment is highly upbeat in our “New York-Inspired” office.

Q.

Who should come to this event?

A.

Anyone who wants to learn how to build confidence in themself and/or others! Confidence is a core component of effective leadership, so whether you are a student in grade 8 trying to build your own confidence or in grade 12 wanting to be a more effective leader - this event will provide powerful understanding and practical tools!

Q.

Who should NOT come to this event?

A.

Anyone who is being forced or bribed to attend! We’ve learned that participants need to be emotionally ready for this type of program.  Our events have the opportunity to be transformational (read the testimonials & watch the videos), however the key is that participants have to want to learn the tools. Also, any individual who is in a crisis situation is strongly recommended to contact our office for individual coaching, and delay their participation in this event. Our events are designed as leadership training, not as a substitute for counseling.

Q.

I notice that some of the teen events are held on school days? Why is this?

A.

Great question! At one of our teen events, many participants admitted at the beginning of the day that none of them wanted to be there (over 98% of them were forced by their parents). However by the end of the day over 94-96% found it helpful and would recommend it to their friends. When they were asked what could be done differently to help them be more open to attend, they all voted to “host it during the week”. They explained that it’s “like school” (leadership training) and therefore an added value for them would be to miss the traditional day of school for leadership school.  From our perspective it’s a short-term loss (1 day of school) for a big long-term gain (learning powerful EQ Leadership Skills)!

Q.

Should my teen do the event alone or with a friend?

A.

It depends. While some teens like to bring a friend to make the learning more fun and to build in accountability, others find it harder to concentrate on the material if they have a friend present. The key is to talk with them and discuss together what you think is the best fit. Over 80% come solo so if your teen is coming alone, they will not feel left out.

Q.

Are the events mostly female or male?

A.

Every event is different but generally it’s pretty close to 50% male and 50% female.

Q.

I think my teen would enjoy this but I also think they will be reluctant. Any suggestions to help get them onboard?

A.

Yes - here are a few tips. Have them:

  • Read about the event & testimonials
  • Watch the video testimonials
  • Read Dr. Karyn’s biography which shows her background and passion for working with young people
  • Emphasize that this is a highly creative event to teach them the “tools” to achieve their dreams
  • Explain that they could potentially miss 1 day of school
  • Offer the suggestion that they bring a friend
  • Offer to pay for some of the registration but ask that they pay for a portion (we’ve learned that students who pay even $20 or $30 towards the fee are much more likely to learn something because they have personally invested).

Remember that they need to be open to attend. So be careful not to force, bribe, pay or trick them to attend (we have seen all of the above).  If they do not want to attend, they are not ready for the “tools” and will get very little out of it, and we encourage you to wait until they are ready.

Q.

I’m thinking of sending my teen to the event and signing myself up for the adult event so I can also learn what my teens are learning. Would this be beneficial?

A.

Absolutely! We’ve had several parents do this and they have found it very helpful to be learning the same “tools” as their kids. Other parents have really enjoyed attending the adult event together with their adult children.

Q.

Can I purchase my tickets at the door?

A.

No - all registration must be done in advance.

Q.

I’d love to participate in the event but I have some financial obstacles (i.e. I’ve lost my job, etc). Do you have any scholarship programs?

A.

Yes. Email us and explain your obstacles in detail. However, please note that we have a limited number of scholarship spaces available.

Q.

Having a class with grades 8-12 seems like a big range. What do you do to make this work?

A.

Great question! We do arranged seating so that students are sitting with others their same age which helps them feel comfortable.  The day is also a great mix of icebreakers, individual exercises, group discussion and teambuilding games which helps the different groups connect with each other. We've hosted these events for over 3 years and we are continually surprised how beautifully students connect and bond with each other throughout the day.

Q.

What are the different ways to receive a discount?

A.

There are 3 ways to receive a discount!

  1. If you register by the early bird date (see Event Calendar)
  2. If you refer a friend to participate in the same event & date as yourself (Note: your name must be on their registration form at the time they register in order to qualify)
  3. If you are the second or third family member who is registering for the same event

Limit 1 type of discount per person.

Q.

What is your cancellation policy?

A.

Please note that all tickets are non-refundable.  If you are unable to attend, for whatever reason, you may give your ticket to a friend, but we do require that you inform us of any changes.
