Superintendent, Peel Regional Police
Manuel (Manny) Rodrigues is a member of the Peel Regional Police; he currently holds the rank of Superintendent and is assigned as the Officer in Charge of the “Corporate Development Bureau”, a responsibility that includes recruiting, employment, training and professional development.
Born in Portugal and raised in Toronto Manny joined the Peel Regional Police at the age of 24. Throughout his 30 year career Manny has been posted to varied investigative bureaux including: Mobile Support (Surveillance), Morality, Criminal Investigation and Frauds where he served as the Detective Staff Sergeant in charge of the Bureau. His assignment to the Morality Bureau included undercover drug operations leading to expert witness designation, by the Courts and at a Coroner’s Inquest, on heroin use.
In a Uniform capacity he has served as a Patrol Officer, Patrol Sergeant, a Staff Sergeant on a Divisional platoon, at Pearson Airport and in the Communications (911) Centre. He also spent three years as a Duty Inspector, providing senior officer oversight as the Chief’s representative in the field.
Manny holds an Honours BA from the University of Toronto with a double Major in Criminology / Employment Relations and also has a Certificate in “Law Enforcement Administration” from U of T. He has taught Criminology and Police Powers to students at Humber College in the Police Foundations program and lectured on the advanced Leadership Enhancement course.
