Dr. Janice Kuo

Clinical Pscyhologist & Professor

Dr. Kuo received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Washington and completed her post-doctoral training at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Kuo is an Assistant Professor in the psychology department at Ryerson University, an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Washington, and a founding partner of Evidence-Based Therapy, Training, and Testing (EBT3). Thus, her work consists of a combination of research, teaching, clinical work, training, supervision, and consultation. Her research focus is on basic emotion processes and the effectiveness of dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), for individuals with severe emotional difficulties and suicidal and self-harm behaviors. She has given several national and international workshops in DBT since 2005 and has provided consultation and supervision to clinicians across Canada and the U.S. Dr. Kuo has published numerous empirical and theoretical papers pertaining to emotion processes in borderline personality disorder, trauma-related disorders, and DBT.
