She has a Bachelor in Psychology, a Masters in Counseling, a Doctorate in Marriage & Family and has done extensive studies in generational differences, personalities, leadership & EQ (Emotional Intelligence).
Dr. Karyn is media savvy with over 17 years of national experience. She is a regular expert for the USA’s #1 morning show Good Morning America (ABC), Canada’s #1 talk-show Cityline (City) and Toronto’s #1 morning show Breakfast Television (City). In addition – she writes a regular column for New York Parenting and Chatelaine Magazines. Previously, she was the resident expert for The Mom Show (Slice), hosted a radio talk-show (CFRB), and produced her own music talk-show, Spill Your Guts (Global), interviewing celebrities to share lessons they learned as teenagers.

Founder of dk Leadership: An Inspirational Leadership & Coaching Center
For 18 years Dr. Karyn, along with her associates, built a thriving coaching practice for families in Toronto. In 2011 she expanded her work to New York City and in 2013, John Prato, The Consul General of Canada in New York, hosted a reception at his Manhattan residence honoring the work she has done for New York families and organizations. In 2013 she and her team launched the wildly creative dk Leadership. Designed as a New York loft, this space includes The Leadership Studio, offering inspirational all-day events for teens & adults (teaching EQ Leadership Skills) and The Coaching Studio, offering individual coaching for clients from all over North America.
Philanthropy & Personal Passions
In 2011, Dr. Karyn partnered with World Vision, Maple Leaf Foods & numerous Canadian schools to promote High Schools for Haiti, an initiative that raised $75,000 to build a new school in Haiti. In 2012, she partnered with Maple Leaf Foods and UNICEF to create Making Meals Meaningful, a set of cards filled with thought-provoking questions that families can discuss over dinner on topics such as empathy and compassion.
Dr. Karyn lives in Toronto with her adored husband of 13 years and high-energy twin 7 year olds. Striving to live what she teaches, she aims to work smart (working part-time) & play hard! She loves her downtime at her family cottage, playing tennis, traveling, paddle-boarding, snowboarding, and relaxing with her girlfriends. Decorating is also a personal passion, and both her home & cottage have been featured in the national magazines Canadian House & Home (June 2008, July 2012) & Chatelaine (Sept. 2013). She is dedicated to understanding the power that environment and family organization can have on overall emotional well-being!
